My double page spread progress

I have added the interview and some other text, but now I need to consider a border, and make all the font sizes the same. The text boxes have been altered and the opacity changed, to make them seem more appealing and easier on the eyes.

Typography Test

I have just been experimenting with the positioning of text for my magazine name instead of merely adjusting the effects. I have produced a test and will ask my target audience what they think of it.

My Progression

Today I worked and progressed on my double page spread. After analysing a double page spread I have got inspiration for mine. I have considered intertexuality as I have placed some album covers which have "been inspirational" to my artist. I will continue next lesson in making the page even better. This will include adding more photos of the artist, and changing the white text boxes so they don't look so plain.

My Finished Album Cover

I have created an album cover, for an CD that will be stuck on my magazine as free give away. This is something in which was requested by my target audience.  I used one of the photos from my 2nd photo shoot, and in Photoshop using different filters and font types I created a simple yet stylish album cover.

What/who would my artists be in to?

Due to the ecleptic taste that my readers poses they would have a wide taste in films/books/music etc.

The fact that they enjoy lots of different genres of music indicates that they have a quality of getting bored quickly (thus swapping to a different genre).

As remembered from my questionnaire and reader profile, my target audience enjoy films. As I just noted they may have a tendency to get bored, so references to fast paced exciting films would seem most appropriate.

Examples of which, could be:

Snatch
Pulp Fiction
Heat
Kill Bill
Catch Me if you Can
The Shawshank Redemption

The films above generally have larger male following (due to the faced paced action and graphic violence). The films are popular and well known, so references would be easily recognisable.

Other things such as television programs, television adverts, books etc. could be referenced and would be likely be understood by my magazine readers.

My readers may also read "NOISE" for advice and iconic figures in which they could follow. This means that they will be equipped with knowledge on celebrities such as: Mick Jagger, Kurt Cobain, Marilyn Monroe etc.

The First Stage of Editing

Now that I have decided on my front cover Image, I have started to edit the image in order for the magazine to look as good as possible.

                  BEFORE                                                                                                    AFTER

By adjusting the image using photoshop, I have improved the exposure and temperature of the image. It's now clearer, lighter and the sky blends more with the sea, making the image seem more distant and mysterious. By increasing the saturation, both the guitar and the model stand out more. The brighter lighting is more conventional for a music magazine, rather than one with less light and colour in which was present in the unedited version.

I have also sharpened the image, reducing any slight blur that may have been present.

As the exposure was altered, the birds disappeared from vision as they blended in with the sky. So in order for them to stand out again, I selected  them using the magic wand tool, then altered the levels.

Other minor adjustments were made to the image to not only improve the aesthic quality, but alter the feel/tone of the image.

Now the image looks more conventional yet has kept its creative/artistic feel. It now looks a picture that could be used for a music magazine front cover more instead of a lifeless piece of photography.
